The weather plays a big part in our Township Tours. Who likes going on a tour in South Africa on a rainy day?  Luckily, the great Mediterranean climate makes Cape Town trips possible all year round.  Only the month of June is a very rainy month which could affect your outing.

South Africa Climate

Weather Cape Town

The weather is a special feature in CapeTown. The Cape Peninsula is pleasantly cooled by the nearby Atlantic Ocean. Even on days over 30 degrees, the climate can be described as enjoyable. The evenings cool off nicely and offers restful sleep.

Temperatures – Best Travel Times

Heading out in the direction of the wine region, the climate changes depending on the district. In Stellenbosch, Franschhoek and Paarl you can expect higher temperatures in the summer time. A cool breeze from the west coast provides cooling off.

A special feature is the False Bay. It is located by Somerset West, Strand, Gordon's Bay and Fish Hoek. Due to the bay, the seawater warms up more there. Many South African families like to visit the small rocky beach, which is mostly sheltered from the wind. Since Simon's Town is home to penguins, you will be able to swim with the little “coat-tailed” marine birds! If you are visiting this region, you should also head to the Cape of Good Hope at Cape Point.

The west coast is not far from Cape Town and offers a severe climate especially in the winter time. Especially popular are the long and pristine beaches with surfers from all over the world. In the summer months, the holiday resorts Milnerton, Table View and the beautiful Bloubergstrand are well frequented.

The nearby Garden Route is a recreational area and there are 2 to 3 routes to be explored. The most beautiful route is the Route 62 through the semi-desert Karoo and Oudtshoorn - the spring capital of South Africa. The center of the garden route is seen as the lagoon town of Knysna. On the extended leg of the Garden Route is the Addo National Park near Port Elizabeth. Here you will find the largest elephant concentration in Africa and the animal reserve offers the Big 5 and in the winter months even the Big 6 and Big 7.
